Ibiza
I’ve been going to Ibiza since I was 2 years old, and I thought my love for the island was purely sentimental - the sense of familiarity, nostalgia and sun! But the more spiritual work I’ve done - I’ve learnt that we are actually drawn to certain places ENERGETICALLY and the more we lean into our spirituality - the stronger this pull can become.
Ibiza is said to be the 3rd most magnetic place on Earth (behind the North Pole and the Bermuda Triangle -so the more convenient of the three..!) Ibiza homes what is described as ‘Ley lines’ - which are believed to be invisible lines of energy that connect ancient and sacred sites around the world. They’re pathways for spiritual energy, connecting the earth's magnetic fields and divine forces - so if you feel energetically pulled to Ibiza, this may be why! (There are also Leylines in Glastonbury..!)
There’s so much to do in Ibiza if you’re into spirituality - but I thought I’d share a few things that I love - that are enjoyable for all - the spiritual and the sceptic!
Hike - Ibiza Hike Station
We went on an incredible 3 hour sunset hike, ending the trip watching the sunset from an ancient fisherman bay. They can tailor your hike to a range of adventure/ability, ours included abseiling down a cliff and a bit of a climb-finale, but it was so worth it. Our guide Dina, was brilliant and we spoke a bit about the power of hiking - how you have to focus on the present (to watch your steps on the terrain) and how it forces you to just ‘be’ and connect with your breath and the environment. I thought that really summed up how our ability to self-soothe is sometimes found in the most simple of things - connecting with our breath, moving our bodies, being outdoors -sometimes changing our perspective gives us perspective.
Eat - Sunset Ashram
I think watching the sunset is a really grounding experience - and the orangey sunsets in Ibiza are my favourite. Sunset Ashram is a great place to watch the sunset and have dinner, the DJs are really fun too. I think some people think that when you become more spiritual you suddenly become a hermit, but I think true spirituality is about leaning into your joy and connecting with others. We also store so much emotion in our physical bodies and dancing is a really important way for your body to release - the music at Sunset Ashram really lends itself to that - and by 11pm everyone was up dancing and laughing together.
Stay - Portinatx
I love the North of the island - formerly a very small fishing village. There are lots of beach cafes but you’re not in the thick of it, it’s a really peaceful place. There are plenty of airbnbs on the sea here which I’d recommend booking - and if you’re looking for something luxe the Six Senses is nearby too (I’m desperate to attend their Alma Festival in November )
I can’t wait to be back x
